A position of the Lecturer in Geomechanics is open at the University of Southampton in the Infrastructure Research Group.

The position (Full Time Permanent) is based in the Faculty of Engineering and the Environment and the key responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within the Faculty, particularly within the Civil and Environmental Engineering programme.
  • Conducting world class research in geomechanics and supervising research students.
  • Publishing high-quality journal papers and building a strong international profile through involvement in key international conferences.
  • Devising research projects to seek and win external funding.

You will be expected to hold undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. Membership of a relevant professional institution is desirable. Ability to contribute to the educational programmes in the Faculty is considered important, as is a strong track record of research, with particular emphasis on and expertise in the laboratory testing of soils.
