Cryspom VII Workshop, 3-5 June 2020, Pau, France
The seventh edition of the Crystallization in Porous Media workshop will be held at the University of Pau & Pays Adour, in Pau, France, from 3 to 5 June 2020. This biannual international workshop focuses on fundamental research of crystallization in porous materials. It unites researchers from geoengineering, geology, physics, chemistry, mechanics and conservation interested in crystal nucleation, growth and transport in porous media and its related consequences. The goal is to bring together leading researchers and Ph.D. students to provide for a constructive and open dialogue. Also, it seeks to incite collaborations between theorists, modelists and experimentalists on an international level.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Fundamentals of crystallization in porous or confined media
- Coupled problems including crystallization
- Crystallization in the built environment
- Crystallization and rock transformation in nature
- Crystallization of salt and gas hydrates
To find more details about the workshop, and to submit an abstract, please visit our website at
https://cryspom7.sciencesconf.org/
Abstract submission deadline extended to 16 February
We look forward to welcome you in Pau,

CONCREEP 11+ international conference
Dear Colleagues,
The CONCREEP 11+ international conference will be held at Northwestern University from the 15th to 17th of July 2020. Join us to learn about the latest cutting-edge research on creep and deterioration of concrete, rock, and soil. Note that this edition of the conference is extending the research scope from concrete to geomaterials in general, so any work related to the time-behaviour of geomaterial is welcome.
The program is organised around 5 tracks:
- Long-term material deterioration and healing
- Multiphysics and transport phenomena
- Time-dependent behavior at multiple length and time scales
- Large scale effects and in situ monitoring of time-dependent deformation
- Experimental characterization of creep and shrinkage
Please check the website https://www.concreep.org/concreep11 for further information and abstract submission (open until the 15th of January 2020).
We look forward to seeing you in Chicago.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee,
Thomas Poulet
EURAD School for Radioactive Waste Management – Multiphysical couplings in geomechanics
January 22 to 24, 2020 Liège (BELGIUM)
The EURAD School is organized within the framework of EURAD, the European Joint Programme on Radioactive Waste Management (grant agreement No 847593). Its objectives are to develop and consolidate relevant knowledge for the safe start of operation of the first geological disposal facilities for spent fuel, HLW, and other long-lived radioactive waste, and to support optimization linked with the step-wise implementation of disposal.
Geomechanics plays a significant role in the understanding of the relevant thermo-hydro-mechanical couplings taking place around the disposal. The objective of the course is therefore to provide the state-of-the-art knowledge on basic concepts related to the thermo-hydro-mechanical (multi-physical) couplings, the physical impacts of thermal loading, and the mechanistic understanding of gas migration.
The course is organized for people from institutions active in EURAD. However, learners from outside EURAD can also register, including staff members from agencies as well as young researchers, involved or interested in the geomechanics field. The attendance will be limited to 80 people.

Special session on Rock and Soil mechanics – ICEM19
Dear colleagues,
We are delighted to invite you to a special session on Rock and Soil mechanics that will take place during the ICEM19 (https://icem19.org/).
This session (https://icem19.org/en/programme/special-sessions) focuses on advances in experimental rock and soil mechanics. Special emphasis will be placed on the application of non-conventional experimental methods that can describe natural or lab-induced deformation processes within the tested materials, yielding experimental results that may advance existing constitutive models.
We encourage you to submit your abstract following the link: https://icem19.org/en/programme/application-docs
The deadline for the abstract submission is on the 30th of November.
