Associate Professorship (or Professorship) of Engineering Science (Civil Engineering)

The Civil Engineering research group at Oxford has an academic vacancy in the area of Geotechnical Engineering / Offshore Renewable Energy. The appointment is at Associate Professor level, which can be an entry level permanent appointment. In exceptional cases more senior staff can be appointed with the title of Professor. The post comes with a Tutorial Fellowship at St Catherine’s College, with associated financial and other benefits. The Oxford group has a substantial range of current activity in the area of offshore renewable energy, with work in geotechnical engineering including the highly successful PISA project on offshore wind monopile foundations (winner of the BGA’s 2017 Fleming Award), the EPSRC/industry funded ALPACA project for piles in chalk and a five year Research Framework Agreement with Ørsted for cyclic loading of offshore monopile foundations. We are also partners in the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Renewable Energy Marine Structures and the recently announced EPSRC Supergen ORE Hub. We are looking to strengthen the group’s activities in this exciting area through this appointment. The closing date is 17 January 2019.
