Dear Colleague,
this is to inform you that there is currently an opening for two PhD positions at Politecnico di Milano granted by the European Commission in the framework of the Marie Curie Innovative Training Networks (H2020-MSCA-ITN-2018) Project URBASIS “New Challenges for Engineering Seismology”. For relevant information, as well as for the PhD positions available at the other European universities involved in the same Project, please visit the project website at the following link
Deadline for application is February 23rd 2019.
The two PhD positions are related to topics of earthquake ground motion simulation and dynamic soil-structure interaction. More specifically:
– ESR 1.3 – Hazard and risk assessment in urban areas based on 3D physics-based ground shaking scenarios – Supervisors: Chiara Smerzini (POLIMI Milano- Host institution) – Dimitris Pitilakis (AUTH Thessaloniki)
– ESR 3.4 – From fault rupture to city seismic response: 3D multi-scale physics-based scenarios for earthquake effects in large urban areas – Supervisors: Roberto Paolucci (POLIMI Milano – Host institution) – Fabian Bonilla (IFSTTAR Paris)
Further details may be found in the attached documents. Note that eligible candidates are early stage researchers (ESR) who must not have resided or carried out their main education and research activity in the country of the host institution for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to his/her recruitment in the project.
We would appreciate if you could advise of this opportunity anyone who may be interested in these positions, taking also into account that the planned salary within the ITN Marie Curie research programmes are highly competitive.
With our kind regards and best wishes for the incoming new year
Roberto Paolucci & Chiara Smerzini
