ComGeo IV – Deadline extension

The last date for electronic submission of one-page abstracts for the forthcoming ComGeo IV has been extended to November 20, 2017. Abstracts in the MS Word (.doc) or Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) formats should be submitted to pietrusz@mcmaster.ca with a copy to g.n.pande@swansea.ac.uk and claudio.tamagnini@unipg.it

ComGeo series of Symposia is a sequel to the long running Numerical Models in geomechanics (NUMOG) and aims to report and discuss latest developments in Computational Geomechanics. We have already received contributions from a number of prominent researchers including most of the members of the Scientific Committee. For more detailed information, please visit the ComGeo IV website at http://www.ic2e.org/comgeo-iv/

ALERT Doctoral School — MercuryDPM

The topic of the ALERT Doctoral School 2017 is Discrete Element Modeling. The last day of the school will consist of practical sessions for different levels of DEM users (beginner or advanced users). In order to prepare these sessions and have as few delays as possible, we ask the participants for the following:

Please bring your laptop or organize in small groups — a limited number of laptops will be provided by the organizers.

DEM for beginners: For this practical session, the organizers will provide bootable USB keys with OS (linux) and DEM programs pre-installed. Please check the procedure to boot on an external usb pen drive (which can be tricky with a very new laptop).

DEM for experts: For this practical session, students have to bring their own laptops. It is strongly recommended to install the software http://mercuryDPM.org. There is an installation instruction on the homepage or in the last chapter of the ALERT School book (the complete book will be published after the meeting in Aussois).

Minisymposium on “Discrete simulations of granular materials” at ECCM 6

A minisymposium on “Discrete simulations of granular materials” will be organised within the 6th European Conference on Computational Mechanics (ECCM 6) in Glasgow (UK) on 11-15 June 2018.

More information on the conference and the minisymposium can be found at http://www.eccm-ecfd2018.org/ and http://www.eccm-ecfd2018.org/admin/Files/FileAbstract/a179.pdf. You are invited to submit an abstract through the conference website before 15 December 2017. We look forward to receiving your abstract.
