The 2-year postdoc position is part of an EPRSC (UK Research Council) grant that has recently been awarded to the University of Sheffield on “High speed granular debris flows: new paradigms and interactions in geomechanics”. More details at the webpage.
The position involves a 12-months contract at Deltares for the “Numerical modeling of impact and vibratory driven offshore piles with MPM”. The position is part of a larger project to translate field test results of monopile installation to sites with other densities and pile diameters using the numerical MPM approach. Supervisor is prof Frits van Tol from Delft University of Technology. More details in pdf.
The MECAMAT 2015 National Workshop will take place from 26 to 30 January 2015 at Aussois. The Workshop is about materials under extreme loadings (high velocities and pressures). The invited Special Lecture during the ALERT Workshop 2015 will be presented by Prof. Hans Muhlhaus from the University of Queensland. The envisaged title of his talk is Mechanical and hydraulic instabilities in Geomechanics.
