UK-China International Particle Technology Forum VII. 28-31 July 2019. Edinburgh, UK

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the organising committee, we are pleased to announce the 7th UK–China International Particle Technology Forum which will be held in Edinburgh on 28–31 July 2019. This is scheduled between two unmissable events in Europe: DEM8 in the Netherlands (21–26 July) and the worldfamous Edinburgh International Festival (2–26 August).

This UK-China forum began in 2007 (Leeds/UK), and has alternated between China and the UK since then: Guiyang (2009), Birmingham (2011), Shanghai (2013), Leeds (2015) and Yangzhou (2017). Originally founded as the UK–China Particle Technology Forum, the inclusion of the word ‘International’ since 2013 acknowledges the worldwide popularity of this forum. The Annual UK Particle Technology Forum has also been a successful platform for bringing together early career researchers to discuss the latest achievements and the future challenges in the area of Particle Technology. This Joint Forum will bring together researchers and practitioners from the particle science and technology community in a convivial atmosphere to discuss recent advances in the
field, identify research areas of particular focus, establish new international collaborations and strengthen existing ones. The themes of this forum consist of both fundamental and applied aspects of particle science and engineering, including particle synthesis, characterisation and measurement, particle processing and manufacture, bulk powder handling, bulk flow characterisation, particulate product engineering, modelling and simulation, and emerging applications of particle technology.

The forum will include invited lectures, oral presentations and poster presentations. The official language of the forum will be English. We invite entries for the best student posters and the Young Researcher Awards. The topics will include, but are not limited to:

  • Particle design, characterisation and measurement
  • Particulate processes and manufacturing
  • Multiscale and multiphase modelling and simulation
  • Geotechnical and environmental applications and processes
  • Particle technology in energy engineering applications
  • Emerging technologies and novel engineering applications
