Registration for the ALERT Workshop & School 2016 is open!

The registration for the ALERT Geomaterials Workshop and School 2016 is open now (the programme of the workshop and school is still preliminary)! (The registration is closed). Please read the hints in the registration form! After filling the form and pressing the button “Register”, a window will open with your invoice. Please print the window with the invoice for your records! You will also get an email with the registration data afterwards. In case of the registration of the ALERT members, the corresponding representative of the ALERT institution will receive the registration data too.

The deadline for the registration is the September 23rd! The accomodation in Aussois will be processed in the order of the registrations (see the hints in the registration form). Please note that the number of rooms in the CNRS “Centre Paul Langevin“ is limited.

6th Biot Conference on Poromechanics

The 6th Biot Conference on Poromechanics ( http://biot2017.sciencesconf.org/ ) will be held just outside of Paris, France, at École des Ponts ParisTech and IFSTTAR, from July 9 to July 13, 2017. The Biot conference is organized only once every 4 years and is the main international event for experts in poromechanics. All topics related to porous solids that deform and contain one or several pore fluids are relevant. This edition will be held as a tribute to Olivier Coussy (1953-2010), who was the first recipient of the ASCE Biot medal. Deadline for abstract submission is September 15, 2016. Further details may be found on the attached flyer.

Advanced course on Modeling of Localized Inelastic Deformation (LID 2016)

Advanced course on Modeling of Localized Inelastic Deformation (LID 2016) will be taught by Milan Jirásek in Prague, Czech Republic, 19-23 September 2016.
This course provides an overview of modeling approaches used in the mechanics of inelastic materials and structures, with special attention to the objective description of highly localized deformation modes such as cracks or shear bands. It is one of the RILEM educational courses. The course is intended for graduate students at the doctoral level, but it can be equally useful to motivated master students, post-doctoral researchers, or senior researchers who are not specialists in this field.

For registration please contact Milan.Jirasek@fsv.cvut.cz .

Powders and Grains 2017

The next Powders and Grains conference is organized by Franck Radjai in Montpellier. The Powders and Grains is an influential conference in which participate every four years many researchers from different disciplines including in particular geomaterials community from all over the world. The next conference will take place in Montpellier from 3 to 7 July, 2017. The website of the event is open for abstract submission (until 5 June, 2016). Please find herewith the call for abstracts and flyer of the conference.

ALERT Workshop 2016 – extended deadline

The deadline for the submission of abstracts for the ALERT Geomaterials Workshop 2016 (27th Edition) has been extended up to May 31, 2016!

Please submit your abstracts by email directly to the coordinators using the Workshop abstract form (doc, odt, pdf). Since time for the presentations is limited, only a part of the submitted abstracts can be chosen for the oral presentations. Therefore, we invite you to submit your abstract as soon as possible. The presentation can also be submitted as a poster. The abstracts of the posters will be published in a separate booklet (ISSN registered).
