The second PETRUS-OPERA PhD early-stage researcher conference on Radioactive Waste Management and Geological Disposal will take place in Delft, 27 June – 1 July, 2016. The conference consists of two main components:
– A set of high quality lectures on radioactive waste disposal presented by international experts.
– Oral presentation and poster exhibition of on-going research work by participants. The best oral and poster presentations will be rewarded.
PhD students and early-stage researchers who are involved in any aspects of radioactive waste research are invited to submit an extended abstract of 1-3 pages. Research subjects from the social and economic areas related to the radioactive waste management are welcome too.
The conference is free of charge. For more information please see the attached pdf or www.petrus-opera2016.eu.

International Workshop on “Advances in Laboratory Testing and Modelling of Soils and Shales”
International Workshop on “Advances in Laboratory Testing and Modelling of Soils and Shales” will take place in Swiss Alps, 18-20 January 2017. This International Workshop is a 2.5-day event promoting the exchange of ideas, practices and state of the art about laboratory testing and modelling of soils and shales. It aims at bringing together researchers working on soils and shales, in order to stimulate the debate around recent advances in laboratory testing and modelling of these geomaterials. Attached is the call for abstracts, and further details on the Workshop are available on the website: http://atmss.epfl.ch

ALERT Workshop 2016 – Call for abstracts
As announced already in October 2015, the ALERT Workshop 2016 (27th Edition) will be held in Aussois from October 3 to October 5, 2016. Please submit your abstracts by email directly to the coordinators using the Workshop abstract form (doc, odt, pdf). If you wish to publish your presentation after the Workshop on the ALERT website, do not forget to agree by ticking the corresponding box in the abstract form.
Since time for the presentations is limited, only a part of the submitted abstracts can be chosen for the oral presentations. Therefore, we invite you to submit your abstract as soon as possible. The presentation can also be submitted as a poster. The abstracts of the posters will be published in a separate booklet (ISSN registered).
The deadline for the abstract submission is April 30, 2016. For any communication about your participation to the workshops, please contact the coordinators of the workshop sessions directly.
Fourth International Workshop on Modern Trends in Geomechanics
Following the series of successful International Workshops held in Vienna in 2005, Stanford in 2010 and Nottingham in 2012, the fourth Workshop on Modern Trends in Geomechanics (IW-MTG4) will be held in Assisi, Italy, May 16 to 18, 2016. More details in the pdf flyer and at the webpage http://mtig.uniroma2.it/.

RockMech 2016
International Workshop on ‘Mechanics and transport properties of fractured/intact rocks’ (RockMech 2016) will take place in Krakow, Poland, August 31- September 2, 2016 (co-organizers: Stan Pietruszczak, Gyan Pande and Andrzej Truty). The scope will include the numerical/analytical as well as experimental research related to the main theme with applications in the areas of geological disposal of nuclear waste, carbon sequestration, petroleum engineering, etc. The workshop will comprise a series of feature lectures and regular presentations. The number of participants will be restricted in order to preserve a high technical standard as well as to provide opportunities for discussion in an informal style. Contributions will be selected on the basis of two-page abstracts, which should be sent in MS Word (.docx) or Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format to Stan Pietruszczak. Full papers may also be submitted and will be considered for publication in a special issue of a reputed International Journal. For further information, see http://rockmech-krakow.com.
