PhD position at the University of Sydney: Dynamic X-ray analysis of fibre reinforced concrete composites: from pouring to ultimate loads

The entire life cycle of a concrete member will be studied using 3D X-ray velocimetry. This project will investigate the influence of mixing and pouring on the load carrying capacity of fibre reinforced concrete composites using state of the art dynamic X-ray analysis to track fibre orientation and distribution within members over time. This information will be used to advance constitutive models of the specimens, and the link between specimen behaviour and member behaviour will be made by upscaling knowledge of the rheological behaviour during pouring.

Job opening for a professorship “Geotechnics: Foundation Engineering and Soil Mechanics”

The department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany, announces the job opening for a professorship “Geotechnics: Foundation Engineering and Soil Mechanics” (see attached file).

For the open position, we are looking for candidatures of scientists who have their focus on fundamental research in soil mechanics, on experimental research using the existing extensive laboratory facilities and on topics of environmental research in geotechnics.

International applications of persons who currently do not speak German are very welcome, assuming there is a willingness to learn the language and lecture in German after a period of two years.

Applications are possible until 8th of April 2018.
