Postdoctoral positions on geohazards detection based on drones/UAVs at Shandong University, China

About the position

School of Civil Engineering of Shandong University invites applications for a postdoctoral position at Shandong University, China. The research project will focus on developing advanced detection technologies for geohazard prevention based on drones (UAVs). New monitoring and early warning systems for geohazards (slope failure, rock fall, dam deterioration, etc) will be established based on UAV digital photogrammetry and other UAV-mounted devices such as magnetic survey device, LiDAR, thermal infrared radar, etc. This research project is funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and two leading industrial partners.

It ranks 151-200 in the world according to ARWU world university ranking 2020. The university is based in Jinan, the capital city of a coastal province—Shandong Province.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Science or other relevant disciplines. Good abilities or experiences in computer programming, image processing, remote sensing and geohazard prevention are highly valued. Foreign applicants are also welcomed and we will help the successful candidate to obtain a Chinese visa.

Salary and contract

250 000 ~ 400 000 CNY / year (35k~55k EUR/year), depending on the performance and contribution to the institute. On-campus accommodation will also be provided at a preferential price. The position is expected to get started as early as possible. Contract duration: 2~3 years (extensions are possible if additional funding will be acquired).

Closing date for applications

The team will recruit 1-2 postdoctoral researchers every year until 2025, so this advertisement will be long-term effective. But early applications are more welcomed.
