I am pleased to inform you that the registration for the ALERT Geomaterials Workshop and School 2024 is now open! The preliminary programme of the Doctoral School is available here, the programme of the Workshop should be posted soon.
In the continuity of last year edition, a remote access to the doctoral school is proposed at the same price as the on-site option. However, this remote option only gives access to the passive attending of the presentations, and no questions could be asked.
This year, the ALERT Bureau has once again decided to offer one day of accomodation to:
- all PhD students attending the doctoral school and belonging to an ALERT member institution (in a double room only);
- all retired researchers attending the workshop.
Please read the hints in the registration form! After filling the form and pressing the button “Register”, a window will open to prompt you to save the invoice as a .pdf file. Please save it for your records! You will also get an email with the registration data afterwards. If you are an ALERT member, the corresponding representative of your ALERT institution will receive the registration data too.

The deadline for the registration is September 01st! The accommodation in Aussois will be processed in the order of the registrations (see the hints in the registration form). Please note that the number of rooms in the CNRS “Centre Paul Langevin” is limited.

If you need to modify or cancel your registration, please send an email to director@alertgeomaterials.eu, mentioning your invoice number, at least one week before the meeting. Individuals who fail to honor their registration will be required to pay a fee to the hotel covering the cost of both the room reservation and the food services.

I would like to confirm my understanding regarding the accommodation provided with the workshop and school registration. Is the accommodation included for the entire 6-day trip, or is it only covered for one day as mentioned in the announcement?

The price of the room is not included in the registration price. However, they are mentioned in the form. The price for a single room (food + room) is 107€ and for a double room, it is 95€, per night.
If you are a student from an institution member of ALERT, and take a double room, one night will be paid for you by ALERT.

I am a PhD student from the UK. My institution does not have an Alert membership, but I would like to register for an individual membership. This would give me the opportunity to take advantage of the one day of accommodation that you provide. I wonder if this possible?

Unfortunately, the membership is institutional only. You are therefore not eligible for the one night offered by ALERT.

when will the bus to Aussois be in Modane? There is a train+bus connection from Chambéry arriving in Modane at 16:33 and there is one arriving at 19:41. I was wondering which one to take.

We are still booking the bus so I can’t confirm but our plan is to have a bus for both connections, so you can choose either! The bus would also take you at St-Jean-de-Maurienne and not Modane possibly, it appears to be easier.

If I book a single room as a PhD student at a member institution, will I still receive a discount of 95€ (which would correspond to slightly less than one night) or would I not receive any discount at all?

I have a question concerning the payment of accommodation costs. Would it be possible to pay the accommodation fees now? If not, I would unfortunately be unable to take part in this event.

Unfortunately, the accommodation costs may only be paid at the center upon arrival/departure.
Maybe you can contact them directly, they may be able to do something for you but I cannot promise anything.
