The Multi-scale Multi-physics Modelling (M3) Lab at Westlake University invites applications for a PhD position focused on multiscale AI-assisted modelling of geological CO₂ sequestration. The project will combine advanced numerical methods for multiphase flow and transport in porous media with emerging AI techniques. Particular emphasis will be placed on using symbolic regression to identify key dimensionless numbers and governing physical relationships, as well as AI agents to assist in planning and coordinating multiscale numerical investigations. The research aims to improve our fundamental understanding of CO₂ transport, dissolution, and trapping mechanisms across spatial scales.
