McMaster University is hosting the 2014 Engineering Mechanics Institute (EMI) Conference, Aug. 5-8, 2014. Two Mini-Symposia are being planned by the Granular Materials Technical Committee of the EMI: (1) Advances in Soil and Granular Mechanics with Applications to Natural Hazards and (2) Experimental and Numerical Methods in Multiscale Granular Mechanics. The session “Rock and soil mechanics” as a part of the [GT1] symposium on Materials will be organized by Cino Viggiani and Michel Bornert at ICEM16 – 16th International Conference on Experimental Mechanics (Cambridge, England, July 7-11, 2014).
