After the increasingly successful conferences held in Tokyo (1995), Lisbon (1999), Berkeley (2004), Thessaloniki (2007), Santiago (2011), and Christchurch (2015), the 7th International Conference on Earthquake Geotechnical Engineering – 7ICEGE (www.7icege.com) will take place in Roma (Italy) on june, 17-20 in 2019.
Ioannis Vardoulakis PhD Prize 2018
The Bureau of ALERT Geomaterials has decided to fund the Ioannis Vardoulakis PhD Prize 2018. Since 2016, the PhD prize is entitled Ioannis Vardoulakis PhD Prize to commemorate Prof. Vardoulakis and his contributions to research and teaching in the field of Geomechanics.
The participation to the prize is open to all the PhD students coming from institutions belonging to ALERT, that have discussed their PhD thesis in 2017. The deadline for the applications is 31st May, 2018. The application procedure has to be done completely online via the application form (the application period is over).
The rules, agenda and further details are to be found on the Alert website:

Ph.D. candidate position in soil and rock mechanics at KTH Royal Institute of Technology
At KTH in Stockholm, we are currently looking for a Ph.D. candidate for a project regarding cost and time estimations in early phases of tunnel projects. The project will take interdisciplinary approach that combines state-of-the-art probabilistic modelling of geological information with studies of economic incentives in different contractual strategies.
Last application date is May 9, 2018.

SoilModels, the Successor of the Soilmodels.info Project
Since 2007, the soilmodels.info website has been reached by thousands of geotechnical engineers to download free implementations of advanced constitutive models for geomaterials. Ten years later, its successor is introduced: “SoilModels : Hub For Geotechnical Professionals”. SoilModels transformed to community site joining advanced professionals in all fields of geotechnical engineering, motivating to share ideas, discuss new developments and offer consultancy services to potential users of advanced modelling approaches. You may find here all the implementations from the original soilmodels.info website, and much more…
The new website can be found at the following address: https://soilmodels.com/
